[Sypha found a communicator almost immediately on her arrival, though it took her a minute to puzzle it out. It doesn't appear to have video, but it transmits her voice well enough.]

If you are from the Barge and can hear this, please answer me. If you can't answer, I am on the deck, near the stairs. I will be here until I say otherwise.

Trevor, Adrian, are you here?

[There's a short wait, and then she speaks again.]

[He goes to her instead of answering. He doesn't trust the communicators here, though he hasn't been given any reason yet to think they're somehow not secure.]

[She smiles to see him, though the trouble doesn't leave her brow.]

Lark, it's good you're here. You're not hurt?

I'm all right. [He's not. But it's not physical, at least. It's useful, he can channel it.] Are you? Have you seen anyone else from the Barge?

You're the first, but I know there are more. [She nods a head to the work crew farther up the deck.]

They said they have seen quite a few new arrivals today.

I'm here. Stay where you are. I'll come to you.

[seegodhatesme]

If I don't see you soon I'll put up a flare.

[She waits where she said she was, perched on a crate beside the top of the stairs. She's watching the large nets be pulled in, but the moment she spots Adrian, she's on her feet, coming to meet him.]

[He told her to stay because he's the one who moves faster than the eye can follow. By way of warning she gets mostly a bit of light that coalesces into an Adrian-shaped blur and then, unable to be hung up on his own pointy issues at the moment, he pulls her to him. It's a clumsy motion, more about checking that she's real than showing any coherent affection.]

[She answers in kind without hesitation, wrapping her arms around his chest, holding him tight. Her head tucks neatly under his chin. She's been trying to keep calm. But her breath is a little shaky there against his shoulder.]

[Adrian is happy to use his power being very tall, now that he's made the leap to hugging over awkward hand clasps. He calls on that vampiric stillness to keep steady and just holds her, folded into him.]

Who else have you seen so far?

I'm here. I found Stoker-san as well.

And Crozier-san. I've just been wandering the boat.

[Trevor has no communicator. But he does have one better: Lucy came with him, and he's been using her as a smell-sweeper through the layers of the ship. It's big and it's taking time but he's already found Sweeney and Crozier, and he knows Lark must be here somewhere.

Lucy's head jerks up and she starts breaking away from Trevor, racing up the stairs to lick Sypha to death]

[Big galloping pawsteps are enough warning that Sypha isn't bowled over, and she lets Lucy stand against her as she wags madly and tries to reach her face, giving the dog a relieved hug as she looks past her, beaming with relief when she spots Trevor.]

[Trevor runs into view after Lucy bolts off, stopping at the bottom of the stairs. He locks eyes with Sypha and tension vanishes from his frame as he gives her a tired, relieved smile back]

Hello, love.

[She gives the dog a push off, with a scruffle of her ears, and runs down the steps to meet him, to wrap her arms around him tight and hold on, her hands clenching in the back of his shirt.]

They wouldn't tell me, if we would all wind up on the same ship. But you're both here.

[He can't see it, but she has hers to her forehead as well. Just not to swoon. How language-blind do you have to be when the word is almost the same in both tongues?

So she just passes the device to Trevor.]

[Short, intense, redheaded-- yes, that must be Trevor's lady, Antryg thinks, and puts on an extra burst of speed to catch up with Sypha in the Congregation Hall.]

Miss Sypha! Excuse me!

[He's a very tall man, scarecrow-thin and lanky, with gray streaking his brown hair and beard. His thick-lensed round glasses catch glints from the fractal stained glass in the Hall, as do the heavy paste diamonds in his earrings and the strands upon strands of gimcrack beads and good-luck charms he's wearing around his neck.]

Trevor mentioned to me that you were a mage?

[She stops to wait for him, her red brows lifted, her hands tucked into her wide sleeves. Trevor sending this man her way is, in some ways, a recommendation, so she's already interested.]

A magician, yes, I am. What can I do for you?

Antryg Windrose. It's a pleasure. [He executes a deep, courtly bow, smiling as he straightens back to his full height.]

He, ah, said you might be interested in healing spells. I can't promise that magic in my world is the same as it is on Earth, of course, but I taught at the Academy for several years after I earned my mastery, and I'd be very happy to share what I know...?
